How do I get gels out of my extruded profile?

Gels have many causes and therefore many remedies. You can try to filter them out with a tighter screw pack or break them down with a high shear screw. We should first find out where they're coming from to determine the best approach. Are they caused by contaminants, long residence time, poorly stabilized compound, etc....

You need to identify what the gel is:

-a contaminate ( dust, hair, other polymer etc)

- crosslinked polymer that you are processing

- unmelted polymer that you are processing


Trying to filter out gels is a lost cause, much better to treat the problem than try
and put a bandaid on the symptom.
