Can anybody suggest any cleaning compound that can be used to clean chromed rollers and screws on sheet extruders.

Hi Joe

What material(s) are you running- I've found
that for HIPS, elbow grease combined with
compressed air, needle nosed pliers, copper
scouring pads and kerosine get screws clean.
And for chrome chill rolls, meths and a soft
cloth work okay.

Hello Joe,
I would suggest looking at plastic media blast cleaning. Plastic media is non-abrasive and will not etch or alter your screws in anyway. The irregular shaped plastic particles will easily remove most types of residue left on screws. The mess is contained in the blast cabinet so it is also a much cleaner process than typical hand cleaning with brushes and scrubbers. Plastic media blasting has been used by plastic and rubber molders for many years to clean molds without damage or alteration of critical tolerances. Feel free to contact me for more information.
Regards,
Jerry R.
