We wish to extrude some material (mixture of Aluminium dust 90% ThermoPlastic > material 10%) at a rate of 10kg per hour.Elasticity of this compound is 4000 > Pa-s at 100 Deg. centigrade. Please suggest a suitable Feed screw Mechanism. IP: Logged |

Is this material pre-compounded? If not it sounds like a dangerous project. Tom C IP: Logged |

I would hope that it is compounded, it would make it easier. I rememeber extrusion and molding of 90% tungsten, 10% PUR, so I would think the aluminum would be do-able. You might want to use a lower than normal compression screw (2:1 range). A nylon type (1-3 turns transition) may work best, depending on the compound (particle size, etc.).
