hello sir,
i m an electrical engg in a plastic manufacturing firm .we produce pp/hdpe woven sack .Apart frm my experience which i had basically in elecrical maintenance I am also taking interest in learning processing but not able to conclude as what happens in extrusion and i need ur help abt the various factors like orientation, crystallization and how it affects the properties of the film /tapes produced in process.
we are having an T-die extruder frm which film is cast through water tank which is further processed to make tapes for sack.

Hi Vinit

A good book that covers cast film extrusion is "Film Extrusion Manual- Process, Materials, Properties" it can be purchased on line from TAPPI- check out their book store at www.tappi.org

Black Clawson produce cast film lines and you should be able to find some info there. http://www.blkclawson.com/content/8techtips/techset.htm

The technical papers presented at SPE's ANTECs will have some useful info too.

In general, end product properties such as tensile and impact strenght depend on the morphology induced in the raw material by the process used to convert it. Semi-crystalline materials such as PP are quite sensitive to variations process heat transfer conditions.

Web searches on the materials (and their makers) should uncover some useful info
