I am looking for presentation material for a "Proof of Change" presentation in my plant to dicuss the benefits of Lean Manufacturing. Anyone know where to find or have any Powerpoint presentations or pdf's? I am looking for basic information to help educate operators and maintenance workers. Any suggestions would be appreicated. Hello. The following web has some presentations on lean manufacturing. Good although not specific to extrusion. http://www.freequality.org/beta%20freequal/fq%20web%20site/index.htm IP: Logged |

One bit of advice: Document everything, so that way if things don't work out lean-wise you can go back. Lean works great for most processes. Just don't streamline yourself into a wall. What happened is (a plant I worked at) decided to go to a zero-inventory resin system. Sounded good on paper, but over the winter (due to snow) we ran out of resin 16 times. Ended up going back to the old system of having enough for the entire run in the warehouse. Good luck. IP: Logged |

StrapGod, Forgive me on this one but with the name StrapGod sounds like you are on a tight budget as with us all. Why don’t you think about letting a floor rat come out and give you some honest truth about your operation? I’m sure you have heard the story from your senior operators, but somewhere down the line they created titles ~ pro efficiencies ~ for these services. How many questions do you have to ask and how many people do you have to talk to? I’ll come out and wear a white jacket for you, and probably show your company how to save a whole lot of money and use layman’s language while I’m at it. And I’ll do this for you, for about for one-third the cost of some of these desk jockeys. I have no title except X Line Operator and can promise you nothing except a different perspective from what you have been receiving. Hands on knowledge with a little bit of brain behind it I’ve been though a lot of these floor courses, its funny you guys pay big bucks for those that have never even run the operation.??? Anyways I just read the definition of rat and it doesn’t sound so appealing so please disregard the floor rat signature. I guess the name came from the need for survival and rats have a longer track of scraping at it. I have no time to be dishonest with anyone and as for betrayals I have a conscience. But it does boil down to survival, cost effective solutions toward creating a better product that will supersede your competitors. I’ll say this, it is very difficult to learn something until you learn it and then it becomes simple. Best, Cindy IP: Logged |
