Anybody using bimetallic equipement for this use? I am looking for your comments what units are best. We are producing anticorrosive bimetallic cylinders and suggest Hastelloy screws with Stellit 6 protected flanks. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Staub: For this application, I somewhat recall a special grade of a stainless steel's for both barrel and screw. However, the Project I was involved with years ago - crashed due to limited amounts of the feed stock (the resin). There is some processing corrosiveness involved. Maybe DuPONT may have an answer for you, or the material supplier that your dealing with. IP: Logged |

If memory serves, the Xaloy 306 grade liner can be used with PTFE. I think there is also a Bimex equivalent, but I don't know what they call it. -Bob Cunningham IP: Logged |

The standard bimetallic barrels for corrosion are as follows, Wexco 555 However if iron contamination is a problem the HIPS process is recommended. Wexco Bo-22 IP: Logged |
