we r students of mechanical engg.we r working on "DESIGN OF PLASTIC PIPE EXTRUSION MACHINE " could anybody please help us regarding design of extuder & extrusion die.

A rotating auger inside a cylinder is the most common method. The clearance between the root of the auger (screw) and inside of the cylinder (barrel) should be designed to produce enough sheer to heat & melt the polymer. Also, you have to control the temperature of the cylinder.

The die will take the flow from the cylinder and shape it into a hollow tube (i.e. pipe). Temperature control is also important.
