I am doing a senior chemical engineering design project. We need to move about 10,000 lbs/hr of product through and extruder or extruders. Can you suggest a good size and approximate cost of these extruders. I thought maybe 2 8" extruders could do the job. I have found a lot of information on extruders on your websit, but prices are hard to get since we are not actually purchasing one many vendors do not want to help. I would like to know just an approximate price for such equipment or maybe a website that would contain this information, because I have looked online for many hours and cannot find much info on equipment prices. Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear from you. IP: Logged |

My guess: $1MM to $2MM for the extruder(s) depending on type and specs. $2MM to $4MM for the total installation, including extruders, in an existing building with enough power. Add millions for a building and bringing in power. Tom C [This message has been edited by Tom C (edited March 28, 2003).] IP: Logged |

Black-Clawson and Egan too make these beast's. However, I recalled an article once showing who has what, and what output rates are, but for my memory to go that far back, I'd have to be reborn. Maybe SPI could help you here. You'd have to spec out the specific process though to get close to the money. I agree with the previous prices quoted from the preceding post though. Sort of a rule of thumb. Get the qoute, and to have it plumbed and installed - providing that you already have the brick and mortor in place - double it for installation. IP: Logged |
