We are in the business of designing and manufacturing Application specific Extruders.
Currently we have a project in our hand of Feed Screw Extruders for extruding refractory oxide, alumina/silica crystals in which customer has specified the "Cooling of Feed Cylinder".Kindly reply for the requirement of same at the earliest.

Can't see how this post relates to single screw extrusion of plastics.

I'm at a loss here.

If your customer has specified the cooling of the feed section, is not it spelled out at what temperature it has to be maintained at?

You should simply supply him with a Thermulator so that they can set the cooling to whatever temperature they want.

Sounds to me like a very abrasive environment.

Abrasive indeed!! Alumina has a Moh's hardness of 9 (Diamonds are 10!!)
Is this alumina-silicate mix to be imbedded in some other(polymer??) matrix?? What's going to hold it together??

Well Skip, I can mentally imagine a barrel and screw made of Diamond, but in the reality of things, I can't even envision something that would handle this stuff - even if is used as a filler in a polymer matrix.

The shame is, no furtur replies come forth.
