Hi Rick Welcome to the single screw forum. You could do this, and extrude material, but you would get less material throughput and it would not be as well mixed also. I like to optimize each zone to get to a point where I'm getting maximum output of the highest quality material. Many heaters are wired for 230V or 460V. If you have 460, the two heater segments should be wired in series. If you have 230V, the two segments should be wired in parallel. A lot of lines are hooked up with several segments on the same phase, shouldn't be a big deal (as long as you don't take them all from the same phase through the whole plant).
