I am interested in finding information about Charles Chastain who was an
expert in plastics living in Chicago in the 70s. Are any of his books still
in publication? Thanks for all your help.

You might consider the web site spe4.org

Then do a search, or contact the Chicago Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPECS)for their roster listings (if he is still alive and pays his annual dues).

Charles Chastain died around 1980. There is a Gary Chastain at RJG (molding technology) who might be related. Charles was a pioneer in plastics education, and sponsored my first seminar in extrusion back in 1968. I remember him more as a molding person. I don't know if he wrote any books, but am fairly sure he didn't write on extrusion.
Hope this helps.
