Goodday,

I would like to know the effect on the extrusion process when the grooved feed as some wear. For exemple, when the depth of the groove is smaller, the egde of the groove begins to go round.

What is the effect on a blend like LLDPE/HDPE?

Thank you

The effect of groove size and shape verses resin particle size and shape has been studied and it can make a big difference. It is difficult to predict how changes in geometry will affect a specific process. Barrel and screw temperautre can also be affected, and/or affect the process. It is best to keep records of your secific output (lbs/rev, or cc/rev), pressure and melt temperature to see if anything is happening.

Generally if you have increased specific output mixing will be less and melt temperature could be less. The opposite for reduced specific output.

Wear could also be occuring in other parts of the extruder. Quality and pressure stability will generally suffer.
