we are curently trying to run styrene and i,m wondering should it be ran out at a rapid speed or not the part has several ribs and groves after i get it going it will run sevral hours then surge just a little any info would be great also what would the the melting points of styrene i run 300 to 350

This is a case where a data aquisition system would be usefull to track down the problem.

This could be a problem with screw temperature, if everything else stays constant. Without some sort of screw temperature control, the screw can take an hour or more to stabilize it's temperature. It might be worthwile to try screw cooling in the feed throat area to see if that helps.
