Hello, We currently produce talc-filled polypropylene and are investigating changing the core resin to HDPE. I am not anticipating any large profile changes in the process. Has anyone had experience with both resins and if so, was there any inherent processing differences? Cheers IP: Logged |

The primary difference will be the temperature profiles you select, as polyethylen (LDPE, or LLDPE, or HDPE, or Metalocene PE have different Melt Points (Tm). Do a DSC on both as this will act as your guide to process the polymer properly. Remember, if your going to only pellletize these materials - Don't use a screen pack, and above all else, add proper stabilizer systems to them. Contact Ciba-Geigy for the best to use for each to assure you don't overdoe them. IP: Logged |

Thanks for your help, I believe that the DSC(s) are under way as I type. Cheers IP: Logged |
