If so I am using Daiken np20 with 12% barium
and I make single lumen medical tubing. The color is white of course. My problem is; to achieve constant uniform size my pressure needs to be stable as I run wall thicknesses down to .004. With many different walls,OD,and ID our tooling must change and our rpm's. The heats are constantly changed and never give the best pressure deviation. When it is difficult to hold size to spec every shift plays with different combinations somtimes resulting in cleaning out the extruder. Using 1 1/4" killion/Davis standard extruder. Tooling is conical shaped tapering down to land before exit. Any info at all would be helpfull.

Mademan,

I have all the tools required to resolve your problem, have done consutling for Daiken, have a good friend with technical responsibilities at Daiken and have worked a great deal with micro-extruders. I even live within 1/2 hour of your location. What more could you ask for?

Please have someone call 570-992-0961 to set up a visit.

Hey Louis,

Go easy! We don't want to drive away participants by having them worry about criticism or proprietary concerns.

The subject of fluoropolymer extruision and safety concerns came up elsewhere, so I have decided to offer this link for and excellent manual:
http://www.plasticsindustry.org/business/literatu.htm

Search on the page for "Guide to the Safe Handling of Fluoropolymer Resins" by the Fluoropolymers Division of the SPI. It is very comprehensive and I feel is a must read for anyone dealing with fluoropolymer processing.

Did you check with John in the compounding department to see what changed? That stuff used to run like clockwork!

Even we are having problems with it now.

If the compound came from a specific supplier, all the bad stuff usually goes to Louis anyway......

Do I know you? How do you know John. We have to talk plastic if you don't mind. I have been meaning to talk to you about fluoropolymers. If your having material problems I might have a solution. Or if any other problem I could help you with.

I'd really like to talk about sizing plates or sizing rings.
