On the same topic about Streamers.. Would there be a significant benefit in moving our bulk virgin material to a powder form instead of pellets? As for the process,, how much variation in pressure set points and process temp is to be expected when changin from a pellet to a powder? Lastly, Will powder create Stringers also?.. I have read several documents off the link given by Tom before,, But there was no mention of powders..

Thanks,

Dane

The effect of powder will depennd on your process. Single screw extruders typically suffer significant rate loss without the use of crammer feeders.

Air conveyance and handling of powders is far more technical than pellets. Problems like EXPLOSION show up. Handling of mass quantities of powder requires serious professional engineering.

But, the steamers will go away.
