Hi all. I'm having a problem with an extruded Polyproylene part, it's an "M" shape that about 10 inches wide and 0.040 thick. The material is a 1.5 melt copolymer, which is blow molding grade, but it is the material that I have to use. The problem I'm having is that as we are trialing the part, we are seeing "waves" between the die and vacuum sizer. These waves seem to move and they are not in the direction that the screw turns. Has anyone experienced this problem before? IP: Logged |

Could it be that certain portions of the profile are flowing too fast causing the profile to buckle? ------------------

Thanks Tom, we solved the ripple problem, we ended up opening up the die slightly and they went away. With that out of the way we can work on the profile and surface finish, thanks for the help! IP: Logged |
