What's the maximum rpm on a 2.5 inch extruder?I run at 80 and top at 100 rpm .I gonna change the ratio on motor and gearbox but i do no want to much amps on the motor.It's actually arround 28 amps.I run on ldpe.

I assume your goal is to get more rate.

More rate will mean more hp in proportion to the rate increase. You will need to be sure you have this power x 1.2 available. Otherwise, the machine will not run.

Assuming you have enough power:
You will generate allot more heat, so your melt temperature will try to go up. The barrel will remove more heat to maintain the same melt temperatue. Without knowing the specific design of your screw, it is not possible to tell if this will be a problem or not. Likely it will create a bigger thermal gradient in the melt and poorer temperture uniformity. However, if the screw had originally been designed for greater rate, then you may actually improve uniformity. I would guess the former would be the case.

I come up with 225RPM Max, 350 lbs/hr, 60HP recommended @ 24:1 L :D.
