Several questions:

1. Using melt pump for peek good idea or bad?
2. Is it possible to vacuum size peek?
3. Will black peek @650f change color due to premature cooling or the shock of say 50f water inside vac tank? Trying to maintain better size than with free extrusion.

1. Only if no other option is available
2. Yes
3. Probably not, though it will still be amorphous and will not exhibit full chemical compatability (may or may not be an issue depending on use and downstream processes

Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for your reply.
Update : The melt pump was used it was a disaster, it continued with 2 weeks of down time no one thought about how to clean the pump. As peek runs so hot there was no available purge that would remain stable at high temp. This was not my project, I suggested using pressure feedback. I found that one reason to use the melt pump was because it was sitting around not being used. I myself will continue with the vacuum sizing and pressure feedback idea. They had to shatter the peek and remove a little at a time. Time is money.
