Dear Experts,

We have a flame retardent radiation crosslinkable material for cable jacket application.

When we extrude the material over the core and then wind it to a reel we have the cable sticking together.

We didnt had this problem of stickiness for the past 6 months and now we have this problem.

Could anyone suggest or advise me in a right direction to solve this problem.

The velocity of the line and extruder RPM are the same as before. The cooling channel is also the same and cooling temperature of water is the same.

Thanks in advance.

One possibility is that the core is now warmer because of warmer weather. I does not provide as much of a heat sink anymore and the wire wound on the coil stays hot longer. Don't assume that the wire wound on the coil will stay cool just becasue the extrudate is cool. Metal can hold a lot of heat inside the wire and release it later.

Is the material cross linked, then coiled, or cross linked later?

Do you have QC data on the raw materials? Has anything changed? Did the supplier have any changes?

Thanks tom for your wise answer. I had really worked out for me to solve the problem. I had the temperature of the water reduced to 5-10°C and then the problem is solved.
Thanks for your timely help....
Hats off
