Dear All, We have a Fill Material over a data cable to have the cable round. Over the fill material we have a Braid and then comes the final Jacket. We find the fill material to be very sticky and because of it the Attenuation of the cable goes higher..... We extrude the fill material with 90°C . The data cable jacket and fill material has Aluminum hydroxide which is used as a Flame retardant Could anyone tell me where the problem could be. Thanks in advance. IP: Logged |

How does stickey material affect cable electrical properties? Are the dielectric characteristics different than other materials? ------------------ Tom Cunningham www.ExtrusionTechnicalServices.com IP: Logged |

Thanks Tom for your reply. The sticky material affects the Electrical properties of the cable. We measured the Mooney viscosity of the Fill material from a good cable and a bad cable and from the granulate. The value of the mooney viscosity for the bad cable is lower when compared to the granulate or good cable fill material. From this we could consider that the fill materials is sheared more during extrusion in the bad cable. But the cause of stickyness is strange for me. Do you have any idea for me to further investigate in this issue. Thanks in advance. IP: Logged |
