Hi, I wanted to share with you my new experience of attending what they call an “online course” about extrusion –it is my field of activity; I am an extrusion specialist. I found this presentation of online courses very interesting because I never had sufficient time to travel in order to attend this kind of training, but there, you don’t have to move from your desk: you hear the speaker on the phone and you see the slides on your computer! And the best of it is that you can ask your questions to the presenter live and get fast responses to your problems. I submitted several written question during the session and some of them were responded to at the end of the presentation, and for the others, I received an e-mail from the presenter two days after! I will attend another course about “How to Best Use Process Data to Improve your Extrusion” next week, so if you are interested don’t hesitate to visit SpeciaChem Web site (it is the name of the company organizing the courses), here is the direct link: http://www.specialchem4polymers.com/resources/etraining/register.aspx?id=564. There are some others of interest to me as I am involved in extrusion, but whatever your field of interest is (as long as it is in plastic!), you can find courses there that correspond to your needs: http://www.specialchem4polymers.com/resources/etraining/index.aspx I think it’s a good way to improve my skills and stay up-to-date with what is happening in the industry. Enjoy!! Greg. IP: Logged |

Greg-- I believe that there are numerous really good educational packages on extrusion. It is hard to recommend any one as different approaches appeal to different students. It is nice that you found a course that really is in tune with you. Probably word of mouth is a good way to identify what course would suit any one individual. I think it might be a good idea for the Extrusion Division of SPE to do a concise summary of some of the different courses available, if it does not already exist. Some description of their nature and level of expertise would be good to know for starters. As a board member of the Extrusion Division, I will bring it up at the next meeting. ------------------ IP: Logged |
