Volatiles- Is there any issues that may arrise when coxtrudeing nylon 6 with another thermoplastic material over the nylon 6? This would be done utilizing a coextrusion crosshead.

If the nylon is wet and a non-vented extruder is used you may have foaming of the nylon.

If the nylon has a large amount of monomer in it, who knows what would happen? Probably nothing.

Concerns would be:

A viscosity match between the materials
A velocity match at the coex entrance
Thermal stability of the other material
Retained heat from the nylon
Temperature of the base material
Differences in freezing point and shrinkage
