Just started havien intermitent problems with skips on nylon 6 in a sleeving over conductor process. Other lines using the same materialhave no issue.

No changes in the equipment with the line diplaying the problem. The skips are eractic and improve at slower lines speeds???

Summertime + Nylon = Moisture problems

Look out for dead heaters.

Worn screws or barrels can result in unmelted resin, which gets worse at higher speeds.

Thanks,

The screw is relativelyh new would have to check on the barrel.. Strange thing it was not a gradual problem.

The extruder is slightly oversized so there should be plenty of time to convey the material.

You would think if residense time was an issue it would be worse at lower speeds?

Melting is completed later at higher speeds, which can place it after the pressure peak in the screw trapping gases. In this case a tighter screen pack might help at higher speeds.
