Dear all,
I am new to extrusion and am trying to design a mini polymer extruder (screw diameter of 12 mm) to extrude some simple polymer fiber profile. I guess the best way for me to start with is a simulation software on single screw extruders. I heard of REX but don't really find any info on it. I would appreciate any suggestion or advice.
Many thanks,

V.

I sell single screw simulation software and small single screw extruders (0.25" to 1.5"). There are a lot of technical issues with small extruders, so I recommend that you buy an extruder rather than try and engineer one.

Contact me for more information.

Could you please name those tech. issues? My boss got some quotes but they are all over-budget.

The biggest issue at that size is if you cut the feed too shallow you can't feed pellets; if you cut it too deep the screw will break. Did you get a quote from Randcastle?

Thanks, Tom. I need more info than that.

And yes, send me a quote. I may not get the whole thing. I am considering getting the screw and hopper. All the temperature control stuff we will customize on our own.
