Dear all, I am new to extrusion and am trying to design a mini polymer extruder (screw diameter of 12 mm) to extrude some simple polymer fiber profile. I guess the best way for me to start with is a simulation software on single screw extruders. I heard of REX but don't really find any info on it. I would appreciate any suggestion or advice. Many thanks, ------------------ IP: Logged |

V. I sell single screw simulation software and small single screw extruders (0.25" to 1.5"). There are a lot of technical issues with small extruders, so I recommend that you buy an extruder rather than try and engineer one. Contact me for more information. ------------------ Tom Cunningham www.ExtrusionTechnicalServices.com IP: Logged |

Could you please name those tech. issues? My boss got some quotes but they are all over-budget. ------------------ IP: Logged |

The biggest issue at that size is if you cut the feed too shallow you can't feed pellets; if you cut it too deep the screw will break. Did you get a quote from Randcastle? ------------------ Tom Cunningham www.ExtrusionTechnicalServices.com IP: Logged |

Thanks, Tom. I need more info than that. And yes, send me a quote. I may not get the whole thing. I am considering getting the screw and hopper. All the temperature control stuff we will customize on our own. IP: Logged |
