Hello, I'm desperately trying to run 100%pe out of my extruder. The extruder is a 65mm with a thread length of 190mm. Whenever I run the pe(MFR .95) the extruder will not build a pressure to feed the pump. If I eventually do build a pressure it will fall off again when the metering pump turned on. The extruder will run with very little pressure. I had this problem with a different screw but the differnce is the other screw would eventually spike the pressure causing the extruder to shut down. We had another screw here(new) so I installed it but only ran for a short period and then it started to act up the exrtuder was shut down and now will not build enough pressure to feed the pump. I'm desperate and aggravated. Will pe run better with a single flute screw? The both screws I have a the barrier type. I have ran PE before with the other screw but the pressure would sometimes spike and shut the extruder down and it was very hard to start back up. Sometimes it would need to be purged with pp to get any pressure to run. I'm overlooking something. I tried heats up and down. The area the material enters the extruder is cooled with water. How high can I safely run the second and following zones? I was able to get the extruder running once by jacking the heats up high(260c) but is this advisable. When running a PE should it be shut down by purging with PP first? I ask because I thought PE stands up to heat better. I'm rambling now. Thanks

Should work.

I need operating conditions and the screw design(s) to comment further.

Let me know if you want to pursue that route.
