we are in the process of setting up a pvc co-extrusion profile line. The pvc will be extruded onto rollformed metal for this application. Based on the cross-sectional areas, we calculate aprox. 70-100 lbs/hour of material usage for each compound. I assume the metal backbone will allow faster line speeds than an all pvc profile, but am concerned about a practical limit to the extruder size and line speed. Any thoughts on extruder size and line speed estimates?IP: Logged |

Seems that 2 1/2" extruders would operate well within your rate requirment. As far as line speed, would not product cooling be the limitation? Cooling is difficult to estimate without any idea of the product cross section and cooling method(s).Tom Cunningham Extrusion Technical Services

We will be using a 20' vac-calibrator tank, followed by a 6'blow off section, then other operations. I am estimating about 35ft/min, based on downline limitations, but would like more if the materials allow it.IP: Logged |
