Hello! We have been manufacturing white uPVC parts and fittings for the plumbing industry. We face great difficulty in getting the same Lab value within the same batch, let alone if compared from batch to batch. Throughout the whole process, there was no formulation or process parameters change at all. Does anyone has any remedy for this big headache that we are having?

Are you experiencing problems with the natural color of the material, or when you add dyes and pigments?

Hi Tom! We are experiencing problems with the white pigment, not the natural colour of the material. It has been suggested that the stabilizer is causing the problems or do your experience tell you otherwise? We are using CaZn now. Do you know of any other stabilizer that is not Tin/Lead or CaZn based?

Sorry, can't help with the stabilizer. I would take a looks at the mix consistency, and any potential for de-blending before the extruder.

What are the parameters that I should look into while checking the mix consistency? And what do you mean by de-blending? I am very new in this line, I have a lot to learn!!

Hello,

If you are still having troubles with stabilizer, I can advise you to ask your stabilizer supplier company the type and the amount of the masterbatch. I work in the pvc profile business and we use Lead based stabilizer. And time to time we are having problems especially with the white color. And the main reason to that is sometimes the stabilizer manufacturer companies supply the masterbatch from different companies. Ask for them to make it constant; only one company.
