Hi to all,
Can i just say that i enjoy the information available on this site, this is great place to get answers for extrusion related issues.

My enquiry is for a screw design, i have a 105mm extruder, its used for recycled HD/LD sheet manufacturing and occasionally we produce PP sheets. i would like to get up to aroung 550-600kg p/h. I know this is not enough info, but i can supply other relevant info as you need.

Can some one guide or help with this issue. cheers.............

A 105MM extruder for this purpose should have 140RPM available with 120kw motor installed. L:D should be about 30:1 .

PE rates would be about 550 kg/hr.
PP Rates 400 kg/hr.

Double those rates are available if a groved extruder is used, but this is a significantly different extruder design.

Very high or low viscosities and melt temperature requirments can dramatically change the above numbers.

How do you compare to these numbers?
