Does anyone know of what extrusion equipment is used to extrude TPP flakes. The material is used as an additive to many plastic compounds, but I havn't found anyone using it alone. Helpful information would be meltflow, extruder L/D, compression ratio for screw, etc. We are wanting to extrude this material into a trapeziod shape, is this achievable? We are also wanting to produce 100 lbs./hr. Hoping to do so on a 2.5" extruder. Thanks for any help. IP: Logged |

TPP melts readily at 120F. You don't need an extruder, just a melting pot and a gear pump. The viscosity is probably too low for a single screw to pump effectivly. The melt viscosity is very low, like motor oil. I will not hold a shape coming out of a forming die. How about a tall vertical mold? Pump the TPP into the top, let it cool, and break apart the mold. Don't expect the final part to have a lot of strength. ------------------ Best Regards, Tom Cunningham www.ExtrusionTechnicalServices.com IP: Logged |
