WE ARE ONE OF THELEADING MANUFACTURER OF CO EXTRUDED POLY ETHYLINE FILM IN SRI LANKA BUT MOST OF TIME WE ARE UN ABLE TO SUPPLY THE FILMS WITH CONSTANT THICKNESS OF OUR FILM MOST OF TIME OUR CUSTERMER NEED THE FILM WITH MINIMUM THICKNESS VARITION RANGE (+/- 3 IN THICKNESS) MANYTIME WE FAILS TO SUPPLY THE FILM WITH THIS THICKNESS VARIATION.
OUR CO EXTRUDER MACHINE IS SUPPLYED BY INDIAN MANUFACTURER WITH THE OCILATING FLATFORM ACTUALLY THIS IS A OLD VERSION AT PERSENT WE NOT GOING TO EXPEND FOR ANOTHER NEW VERSION OF MACHINE ,WE HAVE MANUAL MECHANICAL, GAUGE METER THIS IS REAL SITUATION

OUR PROBLEM IS HOW TO PROVIDE THE FILM WITH LEAST THICKNESS VARIATION PLEASE IS THERE ANY METHOD TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS AVAILABLE FACILITIES

OUR SECOND PROBLEM, WHAT IS THE STANDERED METHOD OF COUNTING THICKNESS VARITION OFD THE FILM AND RANGE OF THICKNESS(IF WE HAVE A WRITTEN EVIDENCE TO PROOVE OUR CUSTERMER WHICH IS THE REASONABLE RANGE TO COUNT THE THICKNESS VARIATION)

If you are running cast film, I can help but first:

#1 What is your co-extruder running.
#2What is the % between the extruders?
#3How do you determine the ratio in speed between chill roller and nip rollers?

In blown film my experience is that the absolute thickness variation could not be less than +/- 10 %. So you should not commit any thing less than that. The thickness variation is caused by:

1.Screw
2.Die
3.Cooling.

Adjusting the temperatures and proper lock of the bubble around the air ring could help a lot in this context
