We jacket resistive heater wire and stranded wire with silicone. We use approximately 5 different silicone compounds. I would like to find out information on what type of screw(s) we should be using on our single-screw extruders, how much wear to avoid on the screw/barrel, what clearances we should maintain, what pressures we should see while extruding, appropriate screens to use, etc. IP: Logged |

I have not seen a lot of information on silicone. I would be able to help out by doing some simulation work. Please check: http://www.feedscrews.com/viewnews.php?id=177 Tom Cunningham Extrusion Technical Services

You cannot use plastic extruders for silicone use, as plastic must be heated while silicone must be kept cool in the barrel. You can find some information here www.waynemachine.com/silicone.html Wayne also can supply you with screws for your existing machines. They can also take your existing machines and convert them to silicone use.IP: Logged |
