Just wondering if anyone can help with a method of applying HDPE to Kevlar?

Looking to build a 167 Tex Kevlar yarn (0.5mm dia) up to 4mm OD using HDPE.
Have a single screw extruder and use a "Pin and Cone" tooling set-up whereby the yarn travels up the centre of the pin and HDPE is pressure extruded onto the material. Melt Temp approx 210 deg centigrade. Main problem is maintaining dimensional stability. Cooling is water spray. Anyone help???

I guess the other answers you got on this forum did not satisfy. I think the advice was very comprehensive as it was provided by two world class extrusion experts. I would not know how to advise you beyond what was already said.

Hi Tom,

sounds like you could be right.
It should be quite simple but I'm missing something somewhere. I think I could achieve it on my other machines but they ae fully loaded for the foreseeable future.

There must also be better ways to spend a Saturday afternoon though. Think I'll pop down to the beach with my son...who know's he may have an idea (even at 3 year old). Thanks to all once again.

Regards
