Any suggestions for a reasonably high strength screw material capable of handling flouropolymers? Are there any stronger materials than Inconel and Hastalloy, which may have less than the best corrosion resistance but have some useable life? How about screw hardface and coatings? I've seen Stellite hold up to some corrosive applications probably due to it's nickel content. Has anyone had good experiences with coatings? Thanks, Tom @ CCS IP: Logged |

Hey Tom! How goes it? As you know, Inconel can be had cold worked with yields in the >120 ksi range. For that matter, so can C276. DuPont was rumered to be working with Haynes on a higher yield C276, but info is scarce. You could get a 4140 screw coated with Hasteloy or Inconel to get the best of both worlds. It has been done Call me . . . we can talk! Louis IP: Logged |
