Need information regarding melt pumps and the benefits of running with one. We extrude fluoropolymers and would like to decrease the amount of set-up time and material.IP: Logged |

A melt pump is not what comes to mind to decrease setup time and material. How do you think it would help, and what exactly is the problem.Tom C

Melt pumps will add to your setup time. I have found that a melt pump is a bandaide for a poor process, most usually poorly designed screw, poor drive (like using a DC drive geared for 100 RPM at 5 RPM), or poorly maintained equipment. I have worked with close tolerance FEP tubing over the years, and have never had to use a gear pump (down to 28 gauge). IP: Logged |
