we would like to make PVOH film which is used in embroidry as a lining. We need to know whether this product can be produced on standard LLDPE blown film plant or on twin screw as this will produce lots of gases during processing. Any help will be appreciated. IP: Logged |

DuPont says there's no one (well, there is one in England) extruding PVOH. Most are using a coating process similar to pressure sensitive adhesive products. The problem is the melt temp and degradation temp are so so close together that a number of plasticizers and stabilizers are required to process this material successfully. This greatly affects end product cost and quality. If interested in a development program, suggest a twin to process low molecular weight PVOH with water as a plasticizer (which flashes off at the die affecting product quality). IP: Logged |
