This question is for SKIP and anyone who can comment. I understand from the previous forum discussions that pelletised PVC works well with single screw extruders. Are there any issues, concerns or additional requirements using pelletised rigid -pvc profile compound with a parallel twin screw extruder having about 400 kg/h ( 3 meters per minute speed)extrusion output capacity. Can you provide contact names for the companies selling extruders with the above capabilities. Dear Skip, Thanks for your prompt response to my question. I understand starve feeding equipment is located between hopper and extruder to allow the use of dry blend and pelletised compounds in twin screw extruders. My optimum target is 400 kg/hr (3m-3.5m/minute) profile extrusion (160mm x 190mm box with 1.5mm wall thickness) using a rigid-PVC compound. I also understand parallel twin screw extruders are preferred for the above mentioned output rates. Would the above output rate be achievable with twin screw extruders installed with starve feeding equipment. Regards, IP: Logged |

Burak, Yes, your output rates would be attainble with starve feed at the hopper, whether parallel or conical twin screw extruder is used. Starve feed merely moderates the feed zone levels, so higher RPMs with 1/2 filled screws can deliver your output rates. Skip IP: Logged |
