Our company produces PC/ABS materials used for computer, and has two type of twin-screw extruder whose model are TOSHIBA TEM-75ss and TOSHIBA TEM-48ss respectively. The former¡¯s screw diameter is 75mm and L/D is 40, the latter¡¯s is 48mm and 40. We have used ASACLEAN of type E, but the cleaning effect was not efficient. Now, we use PC to clean the extruder before producing different grade and color product, but sometimes at the first 100kg product, black specks still exist.
Who can give me some advice about extruder cleaning method? Thank you very much!

Your black specks may most likely be related to the bolt on auxiliary adapters. die's, screen changers, and simply - uneven trannsitions that allow polymer to stagnate and "burn". Even with a purge, it won't "clean" such uneven area's.

Take your system apart and look for the "burn" are'a (point's where it is originating).

Thank you for your reply.
"Burn" polymer is really a resource of black specks, but I think that the main resource is the remaining pigment from former producter.

to all,

I bought ASACLEAN screw cleanser of type E, but I can not find the optimal method to use. Who have ever used this cleanser or some close materials?
When purging the screw, which screw rotate speed is the optimal£¿
Can anyone tell me the ralationship of screw diameter, rotate speed and feed speed? Some formula is the best advice!
