In twin screw counter-rotating extruder for LDPE foamed sheet manufacturing, what is the most ideal position of the gas injection port (I'm going to use carbon dioxide as blowing agent, i.e is it vertically upwards, downwards or sideways on the barrel. Vertically upward or downward seem in-convenient because of the sharp edge formed by intersection of the two twin bores. Can experts guide me on the subject? Rajkumar IP: Logged |

Gas injection is routinely done at either the 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock position... ------------------ www.ppsincorp.com IP: Logged |

Thanks Thomas for your clarifications on the position of port. Any idea about the typical nozzle hole sizes used for gas injection? Typical flow rates of liquid CO2 for my foam densities will go from 5 litres to 10 litres per hour. The pressures range between 5000 - 8000 psi, at nozzle. Who supplies gas injection nozzles?
