Just curious as to who visits, who posts and who lurks. Seems the lurkers always outnumber the posters in most forums.I'm from NJ, USA, the capitol of plastics! Now working in PA! IP: Logged |

DanOhio??? Come on, you are kidding me right Actually, I was just trying to get a reply - ANY reply. Hello . . . is anybody out there? Seems this forum is not as well traveled as others. Too bad, I kind of like the format, what with all of the color to direct the eye. IP: Logged |

Hi Louis,I agree, this forum has some good categories! As you know, I'm now in NM,but was in Cincinnati OH for over 30 yrs. Before that I was in New Brunswick NJ during the 60's. We sold alot of "non-toxic" Ca/Zn/Epoxy stabilizer systems over the years to medical grade producers of PVC blood bags, tubing, catheters, surgical gloves, etc. I understand many of the "majors" like Baxter have caved in to the "politically correct" but technically wrong "phthalates are bad" position. Perhaps the closest alternatives in terms of plasticizer efficiency will be the benzoates. Citrates, adipates, and other linear esters are certainly candidates, but the aromatic esters provide much greater efficiency. Of course epoxy soya and linseed oils are good co-stabilizer/secondary plasticizers in these formulations. I know alot of work is going on to replace PVC with TPE's and other materials, but on a cost/efficiency basis, it's still hard to beat PVC! See ya at the "other place"! Well skip I had written a nice reply but unfortunately it exceeded the maximum number of images (smilies) allowed. So a nice little note pops up on the screen informing me (post composition of course) that I have broken a rule and exceed the limit. But there is not option to go back and selectively remove the offending smilies. So much for my praise of this site . . . To sum up, the market will not pay the price for non-PVC IV sets. We have had them available as has Baxter / Abbott et Why have a supply when there is no demand . . . Hope I didn't exceed my ellipse limit . . . Louis IP: Logged |
