Any experience with processing tire cord, which is a nylon (thermo-plastic) and polyester (thermo-set) fluff? I know that extrusion works fine with a thermo-plastic but not sure what would happen to the thermo-set fibers in the fluff.------------------ Bill Rex IP: Logged |

Brex,Are you sure it is a thermoset polyester fiber. Perhaps Aramid or Kevlar? Things don't look too promising either way. Nylon and polyester don't get along. Two things come to mind; If the polyester level is low, the material can be ground into a fine powder and added to another compound so that the polyester compoenet "disappears". The other would be certain makers of plastic wood and rail road ties. Often than can include these fibers into their mix which acutally helps their properties. ------------------ Best Regards, Tom Cunningham www.ExtrusionTechnicalServices.com [This message has been edited by Tom C (edited June 07, 2006).] IP: Logged |
