Shahriar,

At one time there were screws sold as nylon screws, which have a very short compression zone (~ ½ turn) with a compression ratio of about 3:1. See the bottom screw in the rack of screws on our webpage www.polytechconsultants.com/extrusion.htm.

However, we have shown that these screws are inappropriate - the screw design depends on the rheological and thermal properties of the material.

Regards,

Peter P

Shahriar,

You need to do a proper screw design analysis using one of the screw design software packages on the market along with your material properties.

Please visit the Dupont website //plastics.dupont.com/
from there you can find the product Zytel.. I thing you have to register your user name in the site so you can use their literature.
In their literature you can find the Zytel molding gudie. From there you can find the necessary information about the screw design to mold Nylon 66.

Normally you can use the general purpose screw for Nylon 66
All the best
