Injecting the mold with plastic creates of seperating force in the mold rated in Tons. The Tons of force required to keep the mold closed during injection can be calculated from the part shape and injection pressures. Typically injection machines are rated in Tons, such as a 75 Ton machine.

On the other side of the injection molder is the injection plastictor. These units are rated in terms of the number of Ounces of melt they can produce per shot. Again the ounces required can be determined by the part shape and supporting melt flow channels.

The variations and modifications beyond these simple descriptions are to numerous to mention, and depend on your mold design. A local molding shop may be able to provide you additional support, and even test your mold.
