We use a cut flight screw conveyor to produce a moist "crumb" composed
> of sand, portland cement and water. The screw & tube experience a rapid
build-up of this material. We have tried stiff long bristle brushes mounted along the top of the trough to no avail.

Are you aware of any self cleaning auger designs or cleaning
attachments?

Thanks

Centerless augers seem to have less buildup, and the typical flexing causes material to break off and scrapes the walls. However this style of auger may not be able to transmit the power required to move your material.

The other option would be intermeshing twin screws which clean each other.
