My expertise is in the retail food industry, having spent several years as a
consultant and "trouble shooter", visiting with various food chains in the U.S., listening to their problems then "going back to the drawing board".
Today the biggest problem with retail food stores is all the labour intensive routines in tending the "dry grocery" display shelves. It is being done the same as 100 years ago ! Except that now there are thousands of items rather than a few dozen.
Crews come in at night to straighten out the many rows, and move dated items
up to the front of the row so they do not get stale. The task is almost impossible, shelves are placed vertically very close , a persons cannot get his hand back in there to work on the rows. Labour costs are putting some retailers out of business.
Then it came to me, a solution, by making a simple change in containers,
especially bottles, the job could be much easier, faster, and better results- a simple slot in the base of the bottle to allow a straight plastic strip to pass through, keeping the bottles in a straight line, and allowing the entire row to be pulled forward with an upright "finger" at the rear end of the plastic strip. It works beautifully, and is so simple to accomplish
if bottle makers will make the small change in the mold cavity. A patent search indicated nothing existing like this simple new idea, I received a patent # 6,227,386 too late in life (I am 84) for me to follow through on it. So I am offering it up for sale to a good blow mold company.
I am attaching a few graphics to pass along, I would love to work with a good bottle maker on this.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you feel we could benefit each other in the future.
