Hi all:
I am investigating about what could be the "normal" or standard level in PVC pipe production with a twin screw machine ( with screw and barrell NEW from CM ). My chief operator says that the scrap produced because starting , adjusting conditions , calibrating is 10 %......
I appreciate if you can help me to clarify those numbers.

For a "first-timer" you can expect ahigh scrap rate. Once you earn your stripes, and dial in the right parameters, you should expect about 1/2 to 1%.

However, keep in mind that the shorter the run, the higher the scrap level. Conversly - the longer the run, the les scrap you'll have. keping records and using SPC will help you in the future when the job returns.
