Topic: Extrusion motor drive heatsinks overheats.

Am new to this process. I have problems with motor drives overheating and tripping the drive on "OH". Motor FLA is 313A. Drawing approx. 290A. This is on a Sencorp machine with primary and secondary feedscrews. Six barrel zones on the primary (which is the one that overheats). Drive is a CT QuantumIII. SCR heatsink set to trip at 100 deg C. I am consistently above 80 deg C. Having to keep panel doors open. Whenever they are closed the temp goes above 100 deg. This causes shutdowns. Any suggestions?IP: Logged |

AC or DC motor?What is the motor RPMs relative to maximim? What is the amp load relative to maximum? Have you had a drive professional look it over? Tom C
