I'm running a 2" extruder. I extrude nylon polymers onto stranded aircraft cable. My problem concerns feeding the .009 cable throught the tips and die. Right now I have a genca head but the distance from the back of the head to the front(approx. 6") makes it almost impossible to feed the cable through the head.Any suggestions concerning a smaller head or a process I could implement to alleviate the problem of feeding the cable through the head. Is the 0.009 cable stranded? Is your process pressure coating or tube-on?

I've run smaller diameters through longer cross heads in the past. Take a good look at how you lead it in. Try using some appropriately sized hypo tubing. [This message has been edited by alpertl (edited October 07, 2006).] IP: Logged |
