Dear Forum Members,Simple question for experienced, but rather confusing details for myself. What is the basic design difference between HDPE and LDPE extruder screws.? Is there applications where, the same screw is used for both HDPE and LDPE extrusion.? Tx for commts IP: Logged |

Same screw should work for both when MFR is similar. LDPE will have a lower rate becasue of the density difference. LDPE will also use slightly less power and have slightly lower melt temperature. Picking up the RPMs 10% on LDPE should give similar output to HDPE, and will produce also similar power consumption and temperatures.Significant MFR differences may require different screws. A lot depends on the process and melt quality requirments. LLDPE, UHMWPE and some other PEs have much different processing characterisitics and would require different screws.
