How is it practically possible to measure the thickness of each individual film layer and guarantee the perfect adhesion of the layers to each other.

rgds

Extra info:
Process is the basic co-extruded blown film.
Dia could be as large as 2 meters.
Film is wrapped in folded form.
Layers 3 to 5.
Final use is for bulk packaging.

NDC can likely provide a layer measurment solution;

I would imagine some type of ultrasonic test could indicate whether the layers are bonded online.

An off-line test for bond strength is ASTM D1876 (T-Peel). This seems to be the standard for measuring inter-layer bonding.

Much of co-extrusion success is determined in the die at the interface where the resins first come in contact. Compuplast has done much work in this area and has software tools to help in analysis and design.

See www.Compuplast.com

or give me a call as I am a representative in the USA.
